HIGHTSTOWN NAMES NEW POLICE DIRECTOR

Mayor Steve Kirson and the Hightstown Borough Council have announced the official hiring of Mr. James K. Le Tellier as the new Police Director.  The Council unanimously passed a resolution approving his contract at tonight’s meeting.

Mr. Le Tellier brings over 25 years of law enforcement experience to the position of Police Director.  He most recently served as a Lieutenant and Division Commander for the Lacey Township Police Department, a position he had held for 7 years.  He holds a Master’s Degree in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Thomas Edison State College, and is a graduate of the West Point Command and Leadership Program.

A resident of Forked River, Mr. Le Tellier has served as an Instructor for the New Jersey Regional Community Policing Institute, the Ocean County Police Academy and as the Training Coordinator for the Lacey Township Police Department.  He has also served as a member of the Lacey Township School Board.  His specialty is in Community Policing and Strategic Planning.

Mr. Le Tellier’s contract runs for three years, through 2014.  His salary for 2012 and 2013 is set for $75,000.  His contract calls for a 3% raise in the third year.  As a retired police officer, he is not eligible for either health or pension benefits.  He is expected to begin work for the Borough immediately.
